On Fox News, there is a story today about a man in prison for murder for 27 years. He was repeatedly denied parole because he would not admit his guilt. Turns out, according to DNA evidence; he didn’t do it. It seems that they are willing to punish the innocent who don’t say whatever they want them to say; even if it is a lie.
Is this a fair parole practice? Should an innocent man have to lie in order to go free from a crime he didn’t commit? Or, should he just have to rot in prison for 27 years until someone cares enough to prove his innocence?
I thank God for the innocence project in the State of Texas. Before we lock people up and throw away the key; we should at least be certain they are guilty. I do not advocate ever throwing away the key on anyone.
This man, finally free after 27 years, has alot of catching up to do. Is that even possible? Hopefully, someone will at least give him a job.
I use to play guitar in a Christian Rock Band just about 20 years ago. We even toured the nation with 20 spots for as the open act for a major act. But we a poor band and often took turns driving just to get to the next show. We were part of the metal acts and one night at 3:00 AM our bass player who was driving ran into a cow and our small tour buss ran down the side of a moutain. I don’t remember the accident at all after we hit the cow I just remember the emergency room. None of us drank or did any type of drugs but the police has told us our bass player was charged with drinking and driving I then asked how was that possible? A few days later most of us were released but our bass player was sent before the judge and the judge then determined what evidence could be used for the up coming trial. Get this the police had no evidence at all. We had no open bottles in the buss anywhere yet they took photos of the bottles. My next question was where did the bottle comes from. So our bass player was offered a deal. He had to confess to the drinking, pay a $4000.00 fine and spend 30 days in jail for a lighter sentance. He refused and the case went to court. We had to move on so we could finish our contract with another bass player and we began to play small clubs to raise money for our friend’s court case. none of us ever drank so we hired a lawyer and the case went to trial. Our lawyer did in fact prove that the cops planted the open bottles in the bus but some may ask how did he do that. He used the cops own crime scean photos and had them blown up and two of the open bottles had little dates stamped onto the bottle of 1978 but our accident was in the late 80’s. He also proved that the beer bottles came from a beer company no longer in business.
Our friend spent no time in jail as required for his sentance but becuase we could not post bond he did in fact stay in fail until his hearing. He never agreeded he was ever guilty and why shoud he?
27 years of a mans life lost in prison is a crime. I will never forget the way the cops treated us for our long hair and Chrisitan Metal stand. Now, the hair is gone but I still enjoy the same style of music but also classical and opera as well.
IN closing I’m tired of my fellow Christian brothers who do not oppose evil and vote for the wrong leadership in our nation.
I noticed this is a pro-Huckabee blogg but AI must admit only Ron Paul will obtain my vote.
